Terms of Use

These terms govern access to Brown County Criminal History. Using the site means accepting these conditions. Anyone who disagrees with them should stop using the service.

Not a Government Service. Brown County Criminal History is privately operated and has no affiliation with Brown County, Wisconsin courts, law enforcement, or a state or federal agency.

1. What This Website Is

The site is an informational reference that points readers toward official Brown County and Wisconsin record custodians. It does not maintain criminal histories, issue certified documents, perform an official background check, or act for any public office.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use must be lawful and must not interfere with the service or another person. A user may not:

  • Violate a federal, Wisconsin, or local law through use of the site
  • Stalk, threaten, harass, or harm another person with information found here
  • Use site content for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated decision
  • Attempt unauthorized access to systems, accounts, or data
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools against the pages
  • Disrupt performance or prevent others from using the service

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Public availability does not authorize abuse. Brown County court, arrest, or registry information must not be used to intimidate, discriminate unlawfully, expose private information, or encourage confrontation. Wisconsin registry information is intended for lawful awareness, not injury or harassment.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and does not provide consumer reports. Content and partner results may not be used to:

  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
  • Decide credit terms or insurance eligibility
  • Determine access to a license, permit, or regulated benefit
  • Carry out any other decision governed by the FCRA

Anyone needing an authorized official check must use the Wisconsin Department of Justice Crime Information Bureau or another legally designated channel.

5. No Legal Advice

General explanations of Wisconsin records law and Brown County procedure are not legal advice. No attorney-client relationship arises from reading the site. A lawyer or the proper court should address a specific charge, warrant, deadline, eligibility question, or legal strategy.

6. No Warranties

The site and its content are provided as available, without an express or implied warranty. There is no promise that:

  • Any address, fee, contact, record entry, or procedure is complete or current
  • The service will always be available without interruption
  • Every page will be free of defects or security risk
  • A third-party search result will be accurate, complete, or properly matched

Verify material with the Brown County or Wisconsin office that holds the original record.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Outside websites and search tools operate under their own terms, privacy practices, fees, and data policies. A link does not create control over or endorsement of that service. Users assume responsibility for reviewing the destination before submitting information or payment.

8. Intellectual Property

Original site text, layout, graphics, and branding are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Government facts and public records remain subject to the rights and rules that independently govern them. Site material may not be republished or commercially exploited without permission except as law allows.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operator is not liable for direct or indirect loss arising from use of the site, inability to use it, reliance on content, a mistaken identity, or conduct of a linked service. A user remains responsible for verifying a Brown County record before relying on it.

10. Indemnification

A user agrees to defend and indemnify the operator against claims, costs, or losses caused by that user's unlawful use, violation of these terms, or infringement of another person's rights.

11. Governing Law

Wisconsin law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Wisconsin Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. sections 19.31 through 19.39, governs requests made to public authorities, not this private site. State criminal-identification functions are addressed by Wis. Stat. section 165.83. Any dispute concerning these terms must proceed in a court with proper jurisdiction.

12. Changes to These Terms

Terms may be revised as the service or applicable law changes. The posted version controls from its stated effective date. Continued use after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or terminated when a user violates these terms, threatens the service, misuses criminal-record information, or creates legal or security risk. Enforcement may occur without advance notice where allowed.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay effective. A valid provision that most closely reflects the original lawful purpose may replace the affected language where permitted.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms concern only use of the private site. Questions about a Brown County case, report, warrant, jail entry, or Wisconsin repository response must go to the public office that maintains that record.
